Linn-Mar Robotics

Linn-Mar Robotics is part of Linn-Mar High School in Marion, Iowa.
We formed in 2001-2002 as FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Team 967. In 2010, we added our first two FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams, adding a third in 2015.

Our teams now consist of our FRC team, Iron Lions (967)and our three FTC teams, Lost in Time (4324), Dark Matter (4150), and In Theory (10107).

About the teams:

Iron Lions (967)

The Iron Lions are Linn Mar’s first robotics team and only FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team. 967 consists of a group of fun, diverse, and robot-loving high schoolers!

967 is Linn-Mar’s only FRC team, meaning we build large robots and compete against teams from multiple states. Our students specialize in Computer Aided Design(CAD), Programming, Hardware, Electrical, Outreach, and Strategy. 967 has been to FIRST Worlds 4 times, won 3 Woodie Flowers Awards for our mentors, and has had a successful history in years past. You do not need any prior knowledge of robotics and any high school grade is welcome!

Lost in Time (4324)

Lost in Time is one of Linn-Mar High School’s three FTC teams. The team was established in the year 2009 BC and was originally known as the Super Ninjas during the first few years. Over the last two years, Lost in Time has consistently qualified for the Iowa State Championship. Our dual focus on two robots (an early-season and a late-season model) allows for more opportunities for every member, new and returning.

Dark Matter (4150):

Dark Matter is a fifteenth-year First Tech Challenge team. Born as the Outrageous Finger Puppets, Dark Matter is dedicated to pushing limits and learning about new technologies, as well as passing down our knowledge to future generations. In its most recent season, Dark Matter won second place Inspire Award and the Innovate Award at the League Championships, as well as third place Innovate Award at the Iowa State Championship. Dark Matter welcomes all who are willing to learn, and we strive to do what matters.

In Theory (10107)

Linn-Mar’s youngest team is committed to being a welcoming place for new and returning members alike to learn new skills and make cool stuff. They are working diligently to create a quality robot to excel at this year’s game. 10107 is looking forward to and excited to see what the future will bring, because In Theory, together, anything is possible!
