We Do What Matters!

Who We Are

Dark Matter is a 15th-year First Tech Challenge team from Linn-Mar High School in Marion, Iowa. We are currently comprised of 14 members. We all have a passion for STEM and robotics, and we believe in pushing boundaries first and learning new technologies that we can apply. We also seek to spread STEM throughout our community to empower the next generation.

Our Goal

  • Train new members with lifelong STEM skills such as CAD, software, and teamwork.
  • Inspire children and others to partake in STEM careers and hobbies through outreach events and encourage them to participate in FTC and FIRST programs as a whole.
  • Reach out to local businesses
  • Recruit new members to our team.
  • Foster valuable skills such as professionalism, leadership, communication, responsibility, and teamwork.
  • Have fun!

Our History

Dark Matter was founded in the 2010 season along with one of our sister teams, Lost in Time (originally Super Ninjas). At the time, Dark Matter was named The Outrageous Finger Puppets. In the 2014-15 season, Dark Matter made an appearance at Worlds in Houston. Since then, Dark Matter has continued to innovate and inspire other teams with designs such as our swerve drive base. In addition to 4324 Lost in Time, Dark Matter is a sister team to In Theory (formerly ALoTO).
